escalators that bite

hope everyone had a fab turkey day!
we did, fosho!

forgot the camera though.
no thanksgiving photos but my neice took just a few of us as a fam.
not sure if and when i'll ever get them though, you know teenagers.

ventured out for a bit of black friday shopping and guess what happened about 20 minutes into it?

escalator + jaden = accident

i'm in old navy shopping with the moms and Jaden and my husband David are in JCPenny. I get a call from David saying, "please come and meet me at JCPenny"....so I say why whats up? He says very calm, "just come over." So of course, I lag. Then he calles again, "I need you over here now."

Well, dang.

i got to the escalator and see david holding jaden in his arms.....hmmmmmm, get closer and see the escalator is closed off. Then I see David's face and ask what is going on. He points to jadens foot and he has no shoe on.

WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!!! Then i see Jaden's shoe stuck and crumbled in the escalator.
OMG!!!!! My baby!!!!! I immediatly rip his sock of and look at his foot...... he was ok, just a bit scared. My hero husband untied his shoe and pulled his foot out before it sucked the rest of the shoe in. Thankfully he did not tell me over the phone or I would have totally freaked. FREAKED.

Filled out an incident report and bought him a new pair of shoes.
Jaden was ok but did state that he thought the stairs were going to rip his foot off.

Poor thing!
Thank goodness it didn't.

oh and the escalator wouldn't be able to be repaired for 4 hours.

OOOOOOOOOOPSIE.

He got to get a star wars toy at target later that day.
felt so bad. :(

Cuteness or what?
This is the darling bow holder i made for my daughter.
so easy to make.

the only thing is i need to get a better hanger for it.
i tried to use her baby pink ones, but it was too big.
so i bent up a regular wire hanger, kinda ghetto but
it works for now.

i just cut out the dress in chipboard, slapped paper over it, tacked on some tulle and added the embellishments.

so the grand o'turkey day is the day after tomorrow and i'm looking forward to it, speshally my sister's stuffing, totally more than the turkey itself! Looking forward to chillin' with the fam.

on saturday i'm going to a mass for the 1 year anniversary of my father's passing. it went by so fast, so very fast. even though it will be sad, i'll be spending time with my "new found" family. good healing, i think.

Nightmare before Xmas

I was listening to my Diana Krall christmas cd while doing halloween layouts.
cracked me up. Singing "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" while attaching skulls and pumpkins on paper. Very Jack Skellington of me, doncha think?

I get up this morning before my kids, cleaned the entire kitchen. Felt good to get down and dirty with my Clorox and Pine Sol. Fresh and Clean for like um, 10 minutes afer tornado jaden blew in. Cereal spilled, milk dribbles on my clean table.

Clean, make a meal, clean. Story of my life.

Anyway, got caught up on The Hills. Watch then ON-Demand from cable. It's soooooooooooo set up, but I don't care, me still loves it. Bullcrap, made up lies and all. The Hollyhood crew is still the same: Spencer (aka the blond devil) still jobless and hating LC, Heidi working while not really working (but so got fired! ha!)Lo still annoying, Audrina usually with her long bang in her face, still getting back together with Justin Bobby (why?) and moving out!!!!, ShePratt still annoying as ever and monotone Whitney and LC working for that hateful lady at that fashion Revolution place......that boss is MEAN!

They are so setting up the scene for Whitney and to move on to her own show "The City".....who's making up these show titles? I four year old? The show will follow Whitney living it up in NYC with a new group of fashionita gals. I'm sure I'll watch, who am I kidding? I've been watching since the Laguna days.

Last time I was in LA spotted the Hill's hangouts and remembered scenes from the show. I saw the restaraunt Ketchup and rememberd when Blond devil sent drinks over to Lauren, seing LAX and Coco Deville...... Yeah. R-tard I know. It's amazing how my husband doesn't commit me.

Oh my goodness, I forgot to mention that I made the cutest, cutest ever little barrette holder for Aubrey's hair clips. I need to take a photo to post. It is soooooooooooo darling.

trying to get up to date with layouts..........um, i've got alot of catching up to do. Jaden is in kinder already and these picutres are from when he was in pre-school. I even did some computer journaling, which is something i never, ever do. Sometimes I get sick of my handwriting. To tell the truth, im basically lazy to go to the computer and type it, then print it out yada, yada. Pure laziness.

Thanksgiving is just a week away.

before we know it we'll be in full xmas mode.

I'm about to bust out my xmas decor and play the christmas tunes.

Just put Aubs down for a nap, jay is coloring and I'm going to get down and dirty scrapbooking. Let's see what I'll come up with next.

worked on this tonight, while aubs chilled in her play pen and Jaden colored a dinosaur book. I sometimes watch him while he draws and I notice that he sticks out his tounge on the side and licks his lips. I guess that is his concentration mode or something. I need to document that, because apperently my husband did the same thing. He still does it till this day. Gotta do a layout about that.

The Schwans truck came today and I got some rainbow sherbert ice cream, cream cheese wontons, frozen broccoli and hot wings. My Schwans guy is so cool, he showed Jaden the trucks freezer doors and Jaden loved it. "Fridge on wheels, Mom!" is what he acutally said. We dig Schwans in this house. The ice cream is awesome!

Speaking of food.......my Mom came over for dinner tonight, i made some awesome ribs w/ bbq sauce, corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. yum.

it's alomst 11 here in cali, so i think i'll catch some TMZ on tv and hit the sack. I'm craving to do a mini book, so hopefully i'll share it soon! :)

Ya know, it's almost been one year that my Dad passed away. Wow, it went by fast. If anyone remembers from a previous post, I finally met my long lost 10 brothers and sisters on my Dad's side. I've kept in touch with a sister who is a few years younger than me and I've talked to my oldest brother a few times this year. Infact I saw another brother today. We talked, we hugged. It was cool. I hope to keep those communication lines open. I kept on seeing my Dad in his face. I wonder if he does the same with me, since my mom is always telling me i resemble my father all the time.

wait. i need to stop typing about this for now, im getting sad. :(

it's not easy being green.

gotta love that.
i've been on a green trip lately for my pages.
i'm either using green as the base of my layout or it's interjected in there some other way with paint, ink, pattern paper or embellishments.
green is cool....

but purple is another story. I have the DANGDEST time using purple and I LOVE purple in any capacity. I love my purple eyeshadow, my purple scarf, my purple oversized purse and even my purple patent leather flats with a buckle. Not all worn at the same time, people. Can you say Barney? heheh

BUT

don't count on a good purple layout by me. Every purple layout i'v ever done has been an "EH" layout. passable. Anyone else ever have trouble with it? Or maybe it's just me.

Went to the party, it was fun. Jaden played and played. He even ended up with holes in his socks. I did see a girl there that I hadn't seen in like 10 years though, I had no idea she was my co-workers sister. She sees me and is like, "Isn't your name Christina?" and that feeling of terror came over me, you know the one, when you have no idea who the person is who knows you. Horrible feeling, but then BAM!, i realized who she was! I worked with her back in the day at Michael's when i was in my early 20's. Flashback for sure!

David is on his way back home today from visiting his Mom in Stockton.....he took my babies and I can't wait for them to get home already! I miss my babes.

did about 4 more layouts yesterday, but only scanned one.

I still haven't quite fully cleaned my scrapbook room, I made quite a dent but still have lots to do. But I did buy some baskets to put my letter stickers and chipboard letters in. They are on my desk for easier access. I have been using alot of older product lately. So you'll probably see some more seasoned product and paper on most of my layouts......mixed with a bit of the newness.

After work today, I'm taking my kids to a 1st birthday shindig that my friend and co-worker Diana is having for her son. OMG people she is going of the hizzy for this bday party. Mariachi, Taquero (basically a person making tacos with a stove and all the trimmings, face painting, Jump house, i think even a clown and like 200 ballons. I thought she was CA-RAZY! Hey, but I can't hate, it's her little prince and she if she can do it, right on!

Happy mail! I got me some happiness in the mail yesterday!
Mr. Delivery man brought a white box from UTAH! It was the November 2008 issue of Scrapbook Trends and there on page 129 was my layout.

total awesomeness.
huge smile was painted on my face.
totally missed that.

So guess what I decided to do?

Skipped Jon and Kate Plus 8 *even though I knew it was the renew vow ep!
Turned up my Ne-Yo and got into my scrap groove.

it felt good.
good to create.

Can't wait to get in there today, finish cleaning, organizing and making more layouts!

This past Saturday, I got up at 3 am, out of the house by 4:15 am and on the road by 4:45 am. My sister Soina, my daughter's godmother Elouise and I headed down to LA for a day of shopping. We hit LA's fashion district and had a fun day walking and shopping. I got some cute flats, a purse, scarves and of course jewelry. I have a promblem with necklaces. I need necklace anonymous. We got home at 12:30 am....it was a quick trip!

I bought beads and findings........i made a couple of pairs of earrings and necklaces! I've been making Aubrielle hair bands and embelishing little barrettes for her, need to take pics of them.

hmmmmm.

i've been seriously thinking about scrapbooking everyday. my soul has been craving it. i miss my former life that consisted of constant creativity. working with paper, pictures and getting my hands dirty with ink and paint.

why did i let that go.
how did i let it happen?
why can't i get it back?

today, i made a big dent in my former scrapbook room........i peeled away the layers of crap that had fully transformed it into a junk room. as i looked through all my supplies, i started getting excited. really excited. excited to see what could be created and what new story i could tell on a page.

i'm still not finished in there. still so much to do, get rid of and re-arrange.

i let too many things get in the way, i got distracted and i drifted.......my recent scare, made me think of things that make me happy. things i want to do and can do.

so why not?
why hold back?

so here i am, mind full of ideas waiting to happen.
and so they will.
this time i'll let myself.
i will not allow myself to fail.
no turning back on things.
just do it.

vow to change.
vow to keep happy.
vow to create again.

yep, there it is.
i will get back on track.

recent stuffs and obsessions

Hope everyone had a fab Halloween! Jaden was a grim reaper and aubs was a lady bug. She was also a princess and a bumblebee! The little chick had 3 costumes! I got some deals on girl costumes last year after halloweend and we had two other halloweeny events before the big candy day, so they came in handy. Sorry no pix. They are still in my camera....and when I eventually do layouts I'll post. But then again, my scanner is kaput. FYI, don't refill your ink cartrages at Wallgreens. Total waste of money, now my scanner is all weirded out by the refilled cartriges. It knows they are rigged. dammit!

Jaden's 5th birthday party was yesterday. Although it rained, it turned out really good! We had it at our local Pizza Factory. My mother in law made the most outrageous dinosour cake, with a lava filled volcano, river and dinosars......it even had chocolate hay stacks and rock candy. A-mazing. Again with the pixs, none. dammit.

N-e wayz....works going good. Got a flu shot on Monday........today, I'm sick. WTH?

so yeah.
